In 1990, a large crowd was gathering at the Station Hotel in Greville St Prahran, as I arrived for Scarecrow’s first show. I was excited and terrified with all the usual first night jitters. I knew Mellencamp was big but I had no idea just how big!
For the next ten years, we played solidly all over Australia. We appeared on some of the most popular live TV shows. The highest praise of all, however, came when Mellencamp arranged for us to meet whilst he was on tour in Melbourne. He complimented us on doing an authentic, tight and worthy interpretation of his songs.
I thanked him for writing so many good ones!
As you can see we are still going 3 decades later, Mellencamp’s songs are timeless and he continues to release great albums.
The Scarecrow show continues to evolve and it can be tailored to suit any scenario from an acoustic,
unplugged atmosphere to the explosive energy that the full electric band delivers.
Audiences of all ages love it - hit after hit.
