Melbourne based singer songwriter Jacob Butler is no stranger to the big or small stage.
From finishing sixth on 2005’s The X Factor, to Network Ten's 2007 Australian Idol series. Jacob beat out more than 35,000 hopefuls to secure 8th place in the top rating reality show. As part of his Idol journey, Butler performed each week in front of a live studio audience that was watched by millions of people around the nation.
Since then, Jacob has focused solidly on his songwriting and performing career. Jacob founded his own label, Lions Share recordings in 2009 and released his debut single “Coma” which peaked at #9 on The AIR charts and was played on over 100 major radio stations nationally. Following this success, Jacob finished his full-length debut “Reason” in 2012, and has since secured International releases in Germany, Poland, Greece, Belgium and Scandinavia through EMI, Universal music and V2 Records to name a few. Juggling his time between Europe and home, Jacob often finds himself gigging on Philip Island one week, and on Polish national TV the next!
In 2012, Jacob won first prize in the Adult Album Alternative category of the ISC’s Unsigned Only Competition with his song ‘Mind Waltz”, and his single ’Come My Way” peaked at #47 on the German mainstream radio chart. Further to that “Come My Way” was also used on a TVC for Warner Village Theme Parks, and was pre loaded onto thousands of Sony Xperia Go Smartphones, which were sold globally.
Playing in bands since he was 16, Jacob lives and breathes music, playing guitar, drums and “pop piano” as he likes to put it Jacob knows how to command attention and captivate audiences on all occasions. His sets range from The Beatles to Snow Patrol, from Tom Petty to Neil Young, with some of his originals thrown into the mix. Armed with little more than his acoustic guitar and his uniquely melodic voice, Jacob possesses a power in his performances that transcends generations.
